The price of diesel, both 0,05 percent sulphur and 0,005 percent sulphur, would increase by 44 cents per litre while illuminating paraffin will increase by 39 cents per litre and the LPGas retail price will increase by 39 cents per kilogram, the department said in a statement
The increase of fuel prices will come into effect from midnight on Wednesday. South Africa’s fuel prices are adjusted on a monthly basis, informed by international and local factors.
The department said international factors included the fact that South Africa imports both crude oil and finished products at a price set at the international level, including shipping costs.
These include the rand/dollar exchange rate, the prices of petroleum products in the international markets, and higher oil prices.
Last month, the price of all grades of petrol increased by 67 cents per litre.
