Official Fuel Price Adjustments
Both grades of petrol — 93 and 95 (ULP & LRP) — will increase by 49 cents per litre. Diesel will rise by 30c (0.05% sulphur) and 32c (0.005% sulphur). Illuminating paraffin increases by 34c per litre.
The primary driver behind the hike is the weakening Rand following the cabinet reshuffle and subsequent credit rating downgrades to junk status.

Rand / Dollar Impact
The average Rand/US Dollar exchange rate weakened from R12.91 to R13.51 between 31 March and 25 April. This added:
- 26.83c to petrol
- 25.48c to diesel
- 25.33c to illuminating paraffin
Analysts say June remains uncertain: the Rand is showing signs of recovery, while global oil prices are softening due to increased supply from North Africa.
